After an 11 year absence the Solo fleet returned to Reading sailing club for a Thames valley traveller’s event on 7th May.

19 boats entered with 11 visitors joining the 8 home boats. Light and variable conditions persisted throughout enabling only 2 races to be sailed.

The early stages of the first race were very close with most the fleet struggling to find clear air. At the front Ian Ayres (Kingsmead), Godfrey Clark (Fishers Green), and Dan Goodman (Kingsmead) broke clear to contest the lead with Clark eventually taking the gun.

In the second race Ayres established an early lead chased by a group containing Clark, Goodman and Steve Jones (Littleton) together with Clive Evans and Simon Corper from the home club. Due to the conditions there was a great deal of place changing throughout with the eventual winner Ayres followed by Corper, Evans and Jones.

In the overall standings consistency won the day with Ayres the only sailor able to count two top three finishes to win the event. Second overall went to Clark and third to Goodman.
